Welcome to this module by Dr Inge Hill

This module is designed to provide an introduction to the process by which business and non-commercial organisations develop, select and implement their medium - to - long term plans. The module examines the way such organisations analyse their competitive environment, formulate their objectives, determine their competitive strengths and weaknesses, generate and select appropriate strategies, determine the necessary organisational structures, and implement their corporate plan.

Through the use of case-study and group discussions, the module seeks to balance practical applications with relevant theory and empirical research. Wide reading is encouraged and the attached list of appropriate texts is by no means exhaustive.

The lecture/seminar programme is designed to give a balance between information gathering and interactive debate.
